## Important constraints

- Normal commands never require AI.
- Crumb owns its primary harness, permissions, memory, sessions, and tools locally.
- Shell and agent execution environments are separate.
- Models cannot grant themselves permissions.
- Secrets are not placed in logs or terminal history.
- Provider failures cannot make the native terminal unusable.

## Current status

Crumb is active pre-release software. The native harness and its shell, Pollinations, session, memory, MCP, permission, checkpoint, background-work, and supervision foundations are implemented; packaging, signing, compatibility, and release-readiness work continue.
